Hi,
So I'm currently planning to upgrade my CPU and motherboard and keeping the rest of the parts and I'm either planning to get a 5600x or a 10600KF and I was wondering if I can run any of those on my current power supply, which is a Cooler Master b500 v2
My current rig is:
Processor: i5 6402p
RAM : 8x2 Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200mhz
PSU: Cooler Master B500 v2 [80 Plus Standard Rating]
GPU: Zotac GeForce 1660ti

I do not plan to overclock or anything, just want the processor to run on basic stock speeds. I'm leaning more towards the 10600KF cause it's cheaper but the power rating is higher so I have no clue if it will work with my current PSU.

Thanks in advance for all the help!

Yes, your PSU can handle a 5600x, but, before you upgrade anything in your system you should get a higher quality power supply. A good quality 500-550 watt model can easily handle your 1660ti and a newer CPU like 5600x or 10600kf. The model you have now is low quality and can actually only deliver about 450 watts on +12 volt, where you need it the most.

If you anticipate a GPU upgrade to a higher series in the next 2-3 years, such as an RTX 3070 or 3080, you may want to consider getting a 650-750 watt model now so you won't have to replace the PSU again.

So can I get a 10600KF right now and then upgrade my PSU in a few months whenever I upgrade to a 3060ti? I am only looking to upgrade my processor and motherboard right now as I'm on a budget and need the performance upgrade or even the 5600x. If not, would the Corsair VS650/Cooler Master MWE 650 enough for a 5600x and 3060ti?

No way. You need higher quality power supply for high end hardware like that. 650 watts is enough but you need a better quality power supply than vs series and I don't recommend Cooler Master at all. They make way too many bad units to recommend them at all. Corsair TX650M or RM650x would be fine. You can upgrade the CPU with the power supply you have now but I would not wait too long to replace it. Definitely upgrade it before a new GPU.
