Hello everyone! I just wanted to ask a quick question and hopefully you are able to share you knowledge with me! So my old d-link router isn't able to handle a 60mbps wireless connection so I thought that it was a good idea to invest into a new router. I wasn't sure which one so I called up my IPS (internet service provider) and they told me that the Linksys EA6100 AC1200 was the right one to do the job. (https://www.amazon.ca/Linksys-Canada-EA6350-CA-Router-Gigabit/dp/B00S0AQZFG/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1464012003&sr=8-4&keywords=linksys+ac1200+router) Can it handle my 60mbps connection? If not, please give me a couple of suggestions as to what I should do. I want to aim at the $100 (preferably lower) price range. Thank you so much for your time, I can't wait to see your responses, have a good day!

Only half the equation. What are you using to connect to it?

The router itself supports multiband 2.4Ghz N up to 300Mbps and AC 5Ghz at 867Mbps, but those are ideal situations. Range and line of sight obstructions will decrease the maximum output.

At 60Mbps I would start looking at just running a cable.

I'm going to be connecting my household devices like my PC, my iphone and my ipad. I would run a cable through and that is my preferred way to do things, but I'm not going to have a 20 meter long ethernet cord going from my router at the main floor, to my gaming PC upstairs. Will an extender work? Or will it decrease the speed. I absolutely need a 60mbps wireless connection.

You will need to check out reviews/benchmarks for both the router and the adapter you will be using. I personally use http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122786&cm_re=netgear_wireless_router-_-33-122-786-_-Product and I am usually able to get my full 200mb/s down when I am around 20ft from the router, same floor. From the parking lot of my apartment to the 3rd floor where the router is located I can get over 100mb/s down. So I can speak to that router being able to accomplish what you want. The second piece is going to be the adapter, make sure it's wireless ac and you should be ok for the most part.

If you are doing online gaming on your PC I would definitely recommend hardwiring in either directly to router or using powerline adapters.

Any suggestions for a router? I need to look for something less than $100 CAD. At the moment I'm using a Netgear wifi extender and using the ethernet cable to connect to my PC behind the bed. Not getting full connection, however 🙁 PC gaming online is a mess for me at the moment. I've got a 4790k and 4.7 ghz and an oc'd 970 and it feels like im playing on an hp laptop.
