Can u run ddr2 on ddr3 motherboard?

a motherboard specifies memory type as DDR3. Can I install DDR2 on the motherboard?

While similar, they are actually made to different standards. DDR2 and DDR3 are not compatible nor interchangeable. That being said, there are motherboards that support both types of memory, but they have DDR2 and separate DDR3 slots.
