Can use my internet browsers but cannot connect to any games

I recently purchased a new hard drive, installed windows 7 onto it and have been trying to play and connect to any other game server other than ones that are used by my browsers.
I cannot connect to any game servers, LoL, Dota 2, WoW or steam servers, nothing appears to be working
I have all my firewalls turned off and require assistance as I have little knowledge in this field

Do you get to their websites? Is it just that you now need to log in because your PC doesn't remember the logins?

I can login into the homepages of games such as Dota 2, league, etc but whenever I try to launch a game, or launch steam, it says failed to connect, would you like to retry

Do you have to log into the games too?

Yes I have to log into them, I can log into the client which lets me search for a game, but when the actual game launches it won't connect to the servers

Stuff like that will download updates but allow me to log in but wont launch or connect the actual game
Only my browsers, chrome, firefox, etc work

OK - so you log into the client. Then do you log into the game?

I log into the client and try to launch a game and it doesn't work
It doesn't connect

Does the client only show the games that you paid for? If it lets you go to any game then you'd either have to log in or pay up.
