Question can using a usb 3.0 to usb 2.0 adapter slow down the speed?

can using a usb 3.0 to usb 2.0 adapter slow down the speed? mY Mobo only supports USB 2.0 9pin while I have a case that has a USB 3.0 with 20pin and thought I could easily fix this problem with an adapter. so will it decreased the read/transfer speed?

Adapter doesn't decrease speed. You're using USB 2.0 header as source. It will operate at 2.0 speeds.
If you want USB 3.0 speeds, then you have to use USB 3.0 header as source.
Since your motherboard doesn't have USB 3.0 headers, to get USB 3.0 speeds, you'd have to install
USB 3.0 PCIE adapter.

Won't decrease usb2 speed but there 'might' be a little improvement in transfer speeds having usb2 device connected to usb3 interface.
