My specs are:

CPU: Intel Core i7-2600K
GPU: Nvidia GTX 1070 MSI SEA HAWK X
HDD: Hitachi HDS721010KLA330 1TB
HDD: Samsung HD103SI 1TB
RAM: Unknown 4x4GB
MBD: Gigabyte GA-Z68MA-D2H-B3

My MOBO has only blue PCI-E and I've just found out this is x8 and not x16. Can using this type of slot damage my GPU?

Solution
Confirmed. It will not damage your card. Think of it like the accelerator in your car.

PCI-Ex16 = 60 mph
PCI-Ex16 (x8) = 30 mph
PCI-Ex16 (x4) = 15 mph

P.S. Using the analogy above the best card on the market today (Titan X Pascal) tops out at about 35 mph.

Thanks for the reply Justiceinacan and wolf.

I just noticed that I'm using x4 not x8. Just to reconfirm this will not damage my card. It's just that I've noticed the performance isn't as good as it should be and I guess this could be the cause of the problem.
