Question Can we add a ram with different speed?

I have a DDR3 RAM of speed 1600mhz and i also have an old ddr3 1866mhz can i put that too for more ram? and what if the old ram isnt working and i put it anyway?

bruh im curious, look, when i put my old ram the pc makes beep beep sounds and then shuts down even if i change slots, but im just askin if i put it with my working ram

Mixing RAM is always a gamble. It might work and it might not. It is trial and error.
