Can we buy rear speakers only

Hello,
my current speaker is 2.1 creative and my motherboard sound card support 6 channel speakers. my qus is this can i buy rear speakers only which i can connect to blue port for rear sound output?

Don't see why not - plug in a couple of pairs of headphones into the rear sockets and do a 5.1 sound test and see if the sound comes out.

A lot of the time though it's down to signal processing on the sound system's amp and/or sound card - I have a 6.1 Creative Labs sound system with only 3 plugs into the sound card.
