Can we make a printer accessible from internet?

Would it be possible to make a printer accessible from internet? Need to print a lot of batch printing from my cloud application , in that case can we direct this print job to a specific printer over internet ?

You didn't mention your OS. This is for XP.

I don't know how safe allowing printing would be over the internet. Usually you have to enable "file and printer sharing". To open up the printer over the internet, you may also inadvertantly share files over the internet.
