Can we use a windows 8 mouse on a windows 10

is there any way to use a windows 8 compactible mouse on a windows 10 laptop without changing the windows version to windows 8? When i plug it in, only the scroll bar of the mouse works and the cursor doesnt move and no light comes on the mouse, in device manager it is shown as unknown device but the computer can detect it

It sounds like there is a driver missing. Check the mouse manufacturer's website for a Windows 10 driver.

Check for drivers for that mouse.
