Can windows be repaired?

I have been running Vista on my system for about 4 yeas, and the inevitable is happening. It is slowing down, odd things stop responding etc. Can it be saved or do I just need to reinstall?

4 years is long time for 1 install.

Why is this simple question always evaded? Can windows be fixed? I do not want to reinstal since I do not want to overwrite files. I want to fix windows.

Easiest way would be to get SSD drive and clone your system on it.

Or uninstall apps that u don't use.

Reinstall is so last resort, there are so many things to look at first! first make this cd then cancel and run full scan.

Then turn off java windows and flash and adobe updates, windows update then set video for best performance, go on fron there.
