Can x2 GTX 980 SLI play full setting

I have 1080p 60hz monitor and my desktop have 1 GTX 980, i want to upgrade it to 1440p 144hz or 120hz not the subject what hz should i get... If i make my desktop with x2 GTX 980 SLI can i play with almost ultra setting with 60hz and above with my new 1440p monitor?

You should watch this. Five days ago, JayzTwoCents published this video comparing 970 SLI vs 980 Ti vs Titan X. Unfortunately the 980 wasn't included, but I was very surprised to see that the 970 SLI beat those single cards in 1440p. That being said, if I had the budget, I'd still probably go for the single 980 Ti, but that's just me. VRAM in SLI configurations doesn't stack and having 6 GB in the Ti would make me feel more "future-proof", if there is such a thing.

a single gtx980 should do most games 1440p just fine, a second one may be required for more demanding titles if you want everything on max still and 60fps. keep in mind that at 1440p, AA becomes less necessary (not necessary at all imo) so you can reduce that to gain fps.

Yeah, if you can afford to upgrade to the 980 Ti, definitely do it.
