Can you add a 1TB hdd to dimension 8300?

Solution
Hey there, orangesmasher221!

I'm afraid it won't help. It's been awhile since your computer was manufactured, adding a 1 TB HDD might cause problems as well. Nowadays, HDDs come with SATA interface (3/6 Gb/s) and they often have compatibility problems with older systems.
Your Dimension 8300 is using IDE drive, so I'd suggest to try adding another IDE drive in there.

As for the BSOD error, check this knowledge base article: https://support.microsoft.com/kb/324103

Hope this helped! Good luck!

Even if it has 2 sata ports on the mb?

Are you sure about the SATA ports on the mobo?
I think I'd contact the manufacturer for compatibility support before ordering a new HDD just to be sure.
Even if you do have SATA ports they'd be SATA 1 (1.5Gb/s), while most drives nowadays use SATA 2 (3Gb/s) or SATA 3 (6Gb/s). Even though they should be backward compatible, then again there might be some limitations with the capacity for your PC model.
Another thing to consider here is how the BIOS was set and the fact that you might need a specific update on the motherboard once you hook up the SATA drive. My guess is you won't be having a problem installing the SATA drive, but in the worst case scenario you will need to get a SATA controller for your PC as well.
However, I'd still ask manufacturer's support line for specific instructions how to do that, just so you will avoid the possible headaches of the procedure.

Hope I was helpful! :)
