can I set this up on my pc and then put it to a mac? I have 2 computer so I can setup everything on a pc if I need to.

Yes that will work, just be aware that you will lose all the data on that PC during the process.

just to set up an external hard drive that will boot a mac up with windows?
do you mean everything ont he pc's hard drive will be deleted, or everything on the external one?

Everything on both drives will be deleted. Windows by default will not install to an external drive, so this procedure forces Windows to transfer itself to the external drive. You need a fresh install so that drivers and other system specific data aren't copied.

so hypotheticly, if I had a spare desktop with windows vista on it, that had just been reset, could I do this to my external hard drive and install vista onto it, would this work sense I didn't have any data on the vista desktop. because I do have a spare vista pc so can I use that instead or does it have to be windows 7+
