can you connect a monitor to a pc using usb?

i already got 2 displays connected to my video card but i got a new monitor from someone and i want to connect it to my pc but i dont have any more ports available so i got the idea of getting a hdmi to usb adapter and connect it that way but i dont know if it will work...

you can use motherboard VGA or DVI or HDMI if it is Intel CPU. Can you list your rig specs?

my motherboard is GA-990FXA-UD3 AM3+
my cpu is FX-series 8350 E.C AM3+
and the gpu is amd radeon 7870 OC 2G-5 gigabyte

You either need DisplayPort to DisplayPort, given your new monitor has DisplayPort or active DisplayPort converter to any port that your new monitor supports.
