Just no. You cannot SLI a 980Ti and a 970. They are different uArchs and will not SLI, the driver and control panel will not allow them to.
Actually, you should be able to run them in SLI, only the 6GB card will be throttled to the performance of the 4GB card, so you are in essence denying yourself 2GB of DDR5 capability...though running 2 cards in SLI will improve performance over just one.

So you could possibly save yourself $200 by just purchasing another 4GB card.

Woops! You are correct. I missed that it was a 970 and 980ti...I thought they were both 970s. thank you for the clarification!
