Can you download shader model 2 0

Hello,
I have heard that you can not download shader model 2.0 .Can anyone tell me how much it would cost to get it and if it would be easy for me to install myself? Would I have to get someone else to do it? Oh, and are there any recomendations on decent stores that are well spread out? I just want to play the Sims 3 Thank You xoxo shyshy_annie

no! shader model 2 is a hardware based requirement... you can emulate it in opengl but if your card doesnt support it then its unlikely to be fast enough to emulate it at anywhere near the speed needed to make the game playable....

if your gfx doesnt support SM2 then your way way off minimum requirments for any of todays games and your whole system is likely to need replacing if you want to play games like, bf3, witcher 2 and so on...
even older games like C.S. and f.e.a.r. will not work, which is a shame as its still a good fps shooter.
