a stick of RAM with identical size, brand/model, and speed to the original RAM installed into the PC and it caused a poor performance because it (obviously). But can it benfixed by software or BIOS, or not?

Solution
Use of same thing, exact match, identical modules have no guarantee to be compatible together. What often happens is the additional stress placed put on the memory controller causes the memory to no longer to be able to operate at rated specifications.

Workarounds to get extra memory to work include:
Lower memory clock speed
Relax DRAM timings
Raise DRAM voltage
