Question Can you flash a newer ASUS BIOS on a old ASUS motherboard

Go easy on me, I don't understand how the BIOS works very well, and I know this may sound very stupid. But I own a M5A78L-M PLUS/USB3. The BIOS on it is very old, it is the kind that has the blue screen with white text that you navigate with arrow keys, and yes, I checked, it is the latest version of the BIOS. I want to know if it would damage anything if I where to install a newer ASUS bios, you know, the one with the fancy user friendly ui that shows all fans and can like auto OC. Thanks!

Na, can't do that. Your motherboard's bios is the older legacy type. Newer motherboards moved to uefi bios.

Bios's flash program would fail anyway when it validates the rom file.


Maybe use a diagnostics program like HWinfo64 to show system information.
