I am planning to buy a used DELL XPS 710 with the specs of
OS- Vista ultimate
Ram 3GB
Cpu-Core2 extreme
and VGA NVIDIA GeForce8800GTX768MB
is this enough to run normal games?. Like Simcity 5, or Gta 5 hope fully or just games like tf2 etc..(company of heroes, mount n blade mine craft)

first of all i would do yourself a huge favor and suggest for you to not buy dell.

what kind of budget are we looking at? does this include perepherals (monitor, speakers, mouse) or do you have them already.

if the budget is flexible enough you may be able to get something much better which will be more future proofed then buying 5+ year old hardware.

win7 is preferred over vista.
6-8gb is the recommended minimum for ram
that processor is dated but may work.
that gpu is OLD. my 10 year old pc had a 7800gtx and a slightly newer pc had a GT8800. it will play 90's era games and maybe some early 00' era games but will not play anything demanding.

in general it is a dated pc and will only get more dated as time goes on.

of course just a suggestion.

It will - Crysis 1, Far Cry 1 and 2, Half Life all, things like this, Don't look at anything above the lowest settings possible for games after 2010 or so, no it will not run Battlefield 3, Far Cry 3 or Crysis 3!

It was just 270$ and i already have screen key board mouse etc.
I am conservative on mony so i am staying on a low budget so i bought a pc few month ago for 60$
it was a Gate way Gt1256j with specs of
Cpu core 2 duo 2.66Ghz
Ram-4Gb
vid card Geforce 520
Hdd- 1T
so i am impressed with it but not too impressed. All my pc goods are kinda outdated but at least it works. Instead of buying that XPS, i might just buy a whole new pc set with 400$. i cauculated the specs and it became this.
CPU-Fx 4300, 4GHz
MOther bord-970 Pro3 R2.0 pro
Ram-CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9R Corsair DDr3 8Gb
Hdd- 1T
already have cd rom
vid card-RH7750-E1GHD/D3
case-Zalman z11plus
Power supply-Bull MAX2 KT-520RS2 550 W
keyboard-ZM-K300M
mouse-ZM-M300
screen-ASUS VX238H
all adds up to 610$ witch i could afford if i had more money.

to be frank the xps is not much better than what you have now. both are quite dated.

personally if i was on a very tight budget i would give myself two options:

-keep my current system and throw in a new mid level video card. this would probably give you your biggest performance gains for the least amount of money.

-keep the monitor, keyboard, mouse, hard drive and cd drive and case from your current pc. you could then build a new pc for cheaper since you would only need...

-cpu (personally i prefer intel nowdays but amd would work also)
-mobo (you're probably looking at an asrock or other budget brand)
-vid card (budget brand for this as well)
-psu (i would go with a corsair or other reliable brand.....on the cheap sparkle/fsp group/fotron source works but i still suggest big brand)
-ram (budget/economy ram model of major manufacturer)

with your budget of $300-600 you can do quite a bit better than what you have now and can definitely get better parts then doing a full upgrade.
