Can you help me choose components? £900 Gaming.

Hey guys, I was looking for some help! My current Build, I got a case and everything else:

ATI 5850 1024mb
i5 750 2.66 (Lynnfield)
Gigabyte GA-P55-UD3R
Geil Ultra Series 4GB 1700 2133mhz
Wester Digital Caviar Black 750GB SATA 2 32MB cache
OCZ ModXStream Pro 600w SLI certified modular power supply.

Things are starting to get pretty lame on this PC and I need a heavy update. I aim to rebuild my PC every 3-4 years.

Situation:

Gaming, Skyrim + All mods, Battlefield, new Metro etc.
I want to spend a reasonable amount but not hit diminishing returns.
I play on one monitor at 1080p or I may get a OCULUS one day.
I would prefer to keep my powersupply to keep cost down.
I would like 16GB ram
Ideally a SSD for my primary drive but nothing crazy, ill just reuse my Caviar?
I will NOT overclock!

My budget is £900 but I do not want to hit diminishing returns. No Titan for example. I also do not need a K chip or a Z87?

I just do not want to blow £900 on stuff I will never need. I am happy to add cooling, but no need for water blocks or memory designed to be overclocked with crazy timings if I just do not need it. I think I could tackle this problem on my own but I cannot find a way through the overclocking.

This but feel free to change the 280X for a HD 7970 as it is cheaper and the 280X is basically a rebranded version.
