Boot modes and sata controller settings (if it's sata drive) have to match or transplanded SSD will not boot. There will be driver compatibility issues, if hardware specs are not similar enough. This results in performance problems. Windows activation will be broken. Summary: It's better to do clean reinstall. Less problems that way. Upvote 0 Downvote
