Can you play with 1280x1024 on 24 inch monitor?

My graphics card is really bad so im playing on 1280x1024 right now. If i buy a 24 inch monitor can I still play it on 1280x1024 or 1280x720 resolution? Will it look really bad?

Yea you can,and yea it will look pretty bad,sadly.

1280x1024 is for 5:4 Monitors while 1280x720 are for 16:9 Monitors screen size dosn't really matter.
