Can you put a Case Fan into a CPU Fan slot?

Seen as my motherboard only has 1 CPU fan (4-pin) and 1 chassis fan (3-pin). Would it be possible to use a fan splitter to put a case fan into the 4-pin, along side with the CPU fan?

By doing this would it cause problems or would it be ok?

Wouldn't the fans run at 100% if connected to the Power Supply?

you can use a splitter so long as the total power draw of all the fans does not equal more that what your mobo puts out, normally that 25w but check your manual, however I would only use a splitter to 2 fans doing the same thing, i.e. 2 case or 2 cpu fans not 1 of each, mainly because the fans will be needed at different speeds at different times.

you can get fans that go straight into the psu but yes, they only run at full tilt and the fans of that style I've used are terrible.

What I would do is find out how many fans your case can hold, and buy a fan controller, there are loads of amazon, then you can as many fans as you like and tell them to shut up if you are just streaming something online

I think I will just buy a new rear fan, i am in need of one anyway. Doesn't the Noctua NF-R8-1800 come with a 4 pin molex with a 3 pin connector? I'll just buy this and connect it via the power supply.

will work fine but be warned, it might be quite loud depending on your fan choice

It will be a better choice than my current rear fan that's for sure.

lol fair enough, I'd still say get a fan controller just as psu fans seem crap, while you get any fan on a controller, downside is the controller can be pricey so your call

When I upgrade my case, i'll be definitely getting one. In the meantime i will use the psu fans. Thanks for the tip.

Which splitter are you using, if you don't mind me asking. I have a front fan which has a max input power of 1.2W & rear fan with 0.84W.
