Can you resuse a HP Pavilion HDD as a new HDD???

Can I take out the HDD in my old HP Pavilion and use it as another storage device in my new computer?

I thought the OS was tied to the HDD in HP computers??

Yes you can. HDD is HDD, cannot be tied to any data/software/hardware/os/etc. HP is only the assembling company. All the integral parts including HDDs still come from their original manufacturers.
Just format the HDD before you reuse it.
