can you sell a phone after getting it from telus

my father was offered a new S8 from telus for $50 and he wants to know if he could buy it take the sim card from it put it in his current S6 then just sell the new one can he do this if he cant why not?

Ive seen in my country buying on prepaid phone (you know 2 year contract) then selling it, cause they get extra cash, soo there is no issue, maybe with warranty?

If the phone is tied to a contract, not unless it's fully paid off. Need to read the full terms of this deal. I was able to get a new phone from my carrier for $30 but it required a 2 year contact extension.

It's also quite possible that the new phone is locked to (in your case) Telus, and won't work with any other SIM card. Usually, operators allow for phone to be unlocked after it's paid off, or after some time has passed.

The reverse could also be true - Telus SIM card might not work in your father' current S6.
