Can you substitute intel i3 processor in a dell optiplex 740

I have a dell optiplex 740 enhanced with AMD processor and would like to know if an Intel i3 will work in the socket.

No. The Core i3 is socket 1155 and requires a motherboard with an Intel chipset.

The Dell Optiplex 740 has an old socket AM2 motherboard.
