Can you turn a computer on using UPS during a blackout?

Hi all. Last Saturday at night there was a power outage in my area. I have a led tv 50" and a computer attached as an HTPC. It is connected to a Cyberpower OR1500PFCLCD. So I decided to turn the TV and PC on. When I turned on the PC I could see on the ups display that it used a lot of energy during the boot process and then lowered when the system was completely on. So I was wondering if it was safe to use a UPS to turn on a computer without commercial power, or if it would damage it since maybe it is designed only to maintain power while in use. I couldn't find any similar question Googling. Thanks.

Nah, you are good. Those UPSs are made to regulate voltage. If it booted up fine then you are probably good to go. I would be more worried about it not providing enough power to boot, but it wouldn't hurt anything.

Have used a UPS for quite a few years while I used to have a PC and lived in a very electromagnetically unstable area with giant electro thunderstorms every now and then.
Never had a problem and of course the computer uses a lot of power when booting up, and in particular when turning on the screen.

Later I switched to a Laptop for the past 4 years and thats been keeping me good...
