Can you use 2 4-pins as a 8-pin?

My new GPU is going to require a 6-pin and a 8-pin power cable and I only have 2 6-pin and 2 4-pin cables avaiable. Is it possible to just put 2 4-pins next to each other instead of having an 8-pin? Thanks.

Solution
those 4 pins are atx pins not pci-e. So no. You can get molex (wide 4 pin) to 8 pin convertors, or perhaps 6 +4 to 8 which would be better.

However there is usually a reason why you don't have 8 pin pci-e connectors. What PSU (be precise) is it and what card are you after.

PSU: Seasonic x900 ( http://www.seasonic.com/new/twevent20070315.htm )
GPU: ASUS Radeon R9 290 ( http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/R92904GD5/ )

Would using 2 molex to 8-pin adapter or a 6-pin to 8-pin adapter give the same power as an 8 pin directly from the psu?

I wish that was the case but there are no 6+2 connectors. I'll just have to go with the adapters then. Thanks :)
