My gpu fan is bugging me, it keeps having this grinding sound which has never happened before. so i decided to fix my gpu fan by creating a small hole right on top of the bearing and put in some mineral oil in it, however i dont have mineral oil so can i use cooking oil instead?
are there any alternatives?

Solution
I have utilized WD-40 to make a fan work long enough to get the replacement in. Once the bearing or bushing or w/e this is running on goes out lubing it is only a temporary bandaid to the issue. You should seek out a replacement fan or cooling solution.

On almost all fans today you can NOT disassemble or reach the fan bearings to add oil. Trying to force some in may just put oil where it should NOT be. So punkncat is right in saying anything you do (including NOT adding oil) is only a short-term band-aid until you replace the fan.
