Question can you use different brand ram

i have 2 8 gig ram kits , one is corsair and the other one is vengeance ram they are the same speed but does it matter what brand they are? i am hoping to be able to get them to work together to give 16 gig

It should work in most of the cases.

As all of my RAM sticks have theirs heat-sinks applied, I can't see the brands and I remember having mixed RAM of different brands in several occasions and they all worked.

Most* of the time mixing ram ends up working, but its not a guarantee.
*That said, dont be surprised if you do run into issues, like sticks not being detected, not running at rated speeds, etc. Even two identical kits, bought the same day, from the same batch, could have issues together.

Put one kit in the proper slots.....see the manual.

Put the other kit in the remaining slots.

Test.

if you have dedicated gpu, then there's like 60% possible they work fine and it's ok to use them, but if you have igpu, always use rams which are same as you need the dual channel mode to work at its best

It should work in most cases, Vengeance is a brand of Corsair. Can I ask what speed each kit is?

XMP be can be more tricky, good chance it will work if your on an Intel system.
