Question Can you use HDMI cable for ethernet?

Hi All, I have an HDMI cable running to the upstairs of my house from downstairs. This works fine, but is kind of redundant. Is it possible to use this cable to carry an Ethernet signal upstairs for gaming as i have found WiFi too slow and too much packet loss with ethernet over power? I would need some sort of adapter to do this but all i can find is the other way round HDMI over cat5.
I have tried some HDMI to cat5 adapters that I own already and these do not seem to work the other way round.
Any suggestions before I resign myself to lifting the floorboards and chopping up walls to get Cat 5 upstairs.

Hdmi can carry ethernet. Take a look at this adapter

You could use a powerline ehternet solution aswell. It uses the power cables in your house to send ethernet.https://www.bestbuy.com/site/tp-link-gigabit-powerline-starter-kit-white/6295320.p?skuId=6295320&ref=212&loc=1&ref=212&loc=1&gclsrc=aw.ds&ds_rl=1266837&gclid=CjwKCAjwqqrmBRAAEiwAdpDXtHCBE_Zx-jd8p9MBimQdAUii1WaDPhnS4XFacUWZitHv-WLcEExyoRoC_UEQAvD_BwE

I believe you need a cat 5/6 cable to use this no? Or am I reading this incorrectly? He is looking for a way to use his existing hdmi cable to run erthenet to his other computer.

Thanks folks

That's right those adapters are the wrong way round I need ethernet into HDMI cable and then ethernet out. I have some of these and have tried them and they don't work wiring them up backwards,

I already have powerline adapters which are fine for most uses but I think the wiring must not that great in my house as I get a lot of packet loss which kills gaming.
