Can you use two different brands of ram in one computer

so i have one 4gb stick in my pc

and i want to add another 4gb but dont want to spend that much, so if i get this one (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231310) that is cheaper will they still work together? i noticed that the voltages match but i'm not really sure

Technically, yes you can. It looks like the frequency and timings match on the two sticks, which is good, but you can still sometimes run into compatibility issues.

You might - there's no guarantee, I don't recommend mixing DRAM unless it's sticks you already have in hand - otherwise you might run into having to return, exchange, RMA or even end up with less DRAM than you had planned....best bet is always to buy a set of the full amount you want, especially 1600 and above
