Cannot access my external hard disk

Hi. i recently used bit locker to protect my 1TB external hard disk, but while removing the password my external disk got disconnected and when i tried to reconnect it says cannot be accessed. please help me.

Does this disconnecting happen often or was it a one-time thing? I'd suggest to try the external with a different USB cable if the unmounting happens regularly.
