Hi,

I'm working on a datalogger project and I'm trying to have it operate on its own LAN which I can access from the internet. My datalogger is all hooked up to my Cradlepoint IBR600LE router, which has been assigned a static public IP of <<removed by moderator>> from Verizon (confirmed by whatsmyip and the router dashboard).

I have no problems accessing my datalogger from inside the LAN but I run into trouble trying to ping my router from other networks. I've tried from multiple networks and I just get request timeouts. My router is connected to the internet over Verizon's 4G LTE (I'm writing this from that network), so I don't really have any idea why this is happening.

Thanks for reading.

Check your router to ensure that external access (sometimes called remote access) is not disabled. Also, you may have to access via a particular port. That can be configured in many routers as well.

Last, some routers have ping disabled to help prevent DDOS/DOS attacks. Check that as well.
