I have just upgraded my motherboard and processor, (ASUS P8Z77-V Lk ATX & Intel Core i5 3570K Unlocked Quad Core Processor LGA1155 3.4GHZ Ivy Bridge 6MB Retail) Upon installing the motherboard I realized that my CD drive that used the IDE connection was no longer compatible with my new mobo. So I purchased a new cd rom drive (ASUS DRW-24F1ST 24X SATA DVD Writer Black). Now when I try to use the windows CD that I have used many times to boot my new system I receive the error " CDBOOT: Cannot boot from cd code 5". Now when I put this CD into a laptop it is recognized no problem. How do I overcome this problem? Is my new cdrom drive just not good enough to boot from?

All DvD optical drive are good enough to boot from them.

You should ensure that it is plugged correctly both SATA and Energy.

Once you're sure about that, just change in BIOS boot order and place DvD unit first, if even then you can't boot from DvD unit, try downloading a Linux USB live version, boot from USB and try using then your Windows DvD to install that OS.

Good luck!
