Hello,
I'm having a problem with my Toshiba Equium p300. It won't allow me to boot Vista.
I can get to the F8 menu, but every option on there takes me to the cursed blue screen. If I try Windows repair or recovery it comes up with an error saying:

["The installed program cannot start. Click OK to turn off the computer."]

My problem came along when I scheduled a checkdisk in windows for the next time I restarted windows. (My laptop and harddrive were fine before this was scheduled)

My question is, is this a harddrive fail? Is my only option to make a vista recovery disk? Can i run recovery from my ipod, or is an external harddrive to big to use to boot with?

Thanks

"My question is, is this a harddrive fail?"

You can test it to see if it has failed. Download the SeaTools for DOS ISO file from here:
http://www.seagate.com/support/internal-hard-drives/consumer-electronics/ld25-series/seatools-dos-master/

Create a CD from the ISO file with IMGBurn: http://www.filehippo.com/download_imgburn/

Boot your Toshiba laptop from that CD and SeaTools for DOS will open.
Test the hard drive using the Long/Extended test.

Did you let the check disk program finish running? Sometimes people turn off the computer while the check disk is in the middle of working which causes issues.

Have you tried a full new Windows setup? You may need to format the drive again, unless you have a backup done of your files, I'd get a new hard-drive and install Windows on that, then you can copy the files off your original drive is it's usable.
