Cannot burn song files to cd

Hello,Everytime I try to burn a cd, regular players cannot read them to play... please make note that I use the appropriate CD-R's..

What file format are you burning and how are you burning the disk? Just putting mp3 or other compressed files on the disk won't work. Best way I found is to use Windows Media Player and use it's burn CD option to burn regular music CDs.
