Cannot change the resolution to 4K.

I have a laptop with 4K resolution but it's capped at 1080p. Model of the laptop - MSI GT62VR 7RE Dominator Pro.

It doesn't support 4k resolution.

Are you sure this is a 4k version, i see on MSI website that this model comes with 2 different displays, one full hd and one 4k, maybe you bought the full hd version.

It's the 4K one. I remember picking the
UHD model. I could use 4k before the creators update.

Try to update display drivers and you may need to look at monitor drivers as well.

All the drivers are up to date. Still I will check once again.

I dont see a monitor specific driver there. You can try to install the VGA and Chipset drivers and see if that does anything.

Other then that, go into your device manager and find the model of your display then google it to see if the screen manufacture has newer monitor drivers for it. (manufacture of the monitor part is most likely not MSI. They rebrand and sell just like almost everyone else.)

Under the display adaptor it shows GTX 1070 only. No other driver. I'll update the chipset tho.

Are you sure that before the update the dsr wasnt active and it was just a software resolution and you actually have the full hd version? Also try to uninstall the monitor from the device manager and let windows install it again.

On the laptop its self it should have an exact model\serial number. Please provide that.

Hmm that looks longer then I recall. Is there any shorter serials on the system?

Serial doesn't pull anything up on MSI site either.

And neither of those laptops support 4k : /

Can you run a dxdiag and see what the system model comes up as?

The S/N number is the actual serial number. SKU is only needed for warranty purposes.

God they almost make it impossible to see what exact version you have.

Maybe you can look in device manager or dxidag under display tab.

4k will have a UHD screen rather then a EFD. Maybe we can see the screens model some where? So we know for a fact what we are dealing with and where to go from there.

Under the display it's showing 1920*1080 as native. But I'm pretty sure that I have UHD display. I think I'll have to visit the service centre.
