Cannot connect monitor with HDMI cable

Hi guys,

I bought an LG-24MP58VQ-P and when I try to connect it to the VGA(Sapphire - 7850 2gb) with an HDMI cable it gives "NO SIGNAL" and the monitor turns off. I've tried to select the input setting and choose HDMI, but the Input menu on the monitor is not active . It works fine with a standard VGA cable . I've tried to connect the same HDMI cable to the TV and it works.

Some ideas how to figure out where the problem is, the VGA or the Monitor ?

are you leaving the vga cable hooked up the video card while you have the HDMI cable hooked up? (don't hook both up at once) that would be my only guess

I've tried to connect the hdmi while the PC is off and the vga cable is removed. When I start the PC there is no signal and the most interesting thing is that the monitor doesn't detect any cable at all, the input menu is not active .
