.This is the first time i am building my own PC started building a new system by buying all new parts . I only had a 20+4 pin connector instead of the 24 pin atx connector that my motherboard uses. I was wondering if I could combine the 20 pin and 4 pin connectors and plug them into the 24 pin socket, without causing any damage or malfunction.
Any help would be appreciated

Solution
if the 4 pin cable is part of the 20 pin wire bundle then yes you can attach them together to make a 24 pin for the motherbaord.

If the 4 pin is its own cable, should me made up of 2 yellow wires and 2 black wires, then no you cant add that to the 20 pin. that 4 pin is for the cpu and has its own plug on the motherboard.

if you only have a 20 pin you will have to buy a new PSU.
