Cannot connect to a VPN on my laptop!

It's definitely not the wifi, because my phone connects to VPNs just fine on the same network. I'm on windows 8 on an Asus ROG laptop, with a Qualcomm Atheros AR946x Wireless Network Adapter. I have tried deleting and allowing the programs to remake the VPN connection adapter, disabled Windows Firewall completely to try it out, switched off antivirus etc. I have no idea what's going on and it's driving me nuts because I can't play any games in my school without it! Any help would be appreciated

have you tried deleting all the tap and vpn connections in sharing centre and then perhaps reinstall your vpn

does not work either
