I have a Linksys EA6400 router and it was working fine until yesterday. I have not been able to connect since then.

-I tried rebooting the router.
-Rebooting the modem.
-Made sure automatic IP addresses and all other appropriate boxes are checked.
-Disconnecting and reconnecting to network
-Network troubleshooter in which it says the broadband modem is experiencing connectivity issues which I don't believe because I'm using it manually now.
-All connections are secure and in the right place
-Wi-fi button is on

How do I get my router to connect with my computer wirelessly again?

I can't connect wirelessly. My ISP modem does not have wireless capabilities so I bought a Linksys EA6400 router to be able to connect my laptop, PS3, 3DS and PSP. Although at the time I only had my laptop and 2 PS3 on the wireless home network, it was working fine until Friday. I'm so mad at myself because I accidentally threw the receipt in the trash so now I can't even return it and get the money back. So unless I find a solution that actually works, I'm stuck with a fairly expensive product that just quit on me.

I'm not sure exactly what you are asking.

The router does not work at all anymore, wirelessly nor by ethernet cable. I mean the light is solid green but it refuses to connect wirelessly.I can get to the router settings by putting in the IP address in the address bar but I don't really touch the settings, just look at it.

The network troubleshooter says: The connection between your access point, router, or cable modem and the internet is broken. The network gateway is accessible, but Windows couldn't receive network traffic from the internet.

I'm not all that computer literate so I don't know how to correct that. The network map shows no connection between the router and internet so I know it's not the modem, besides I'm using my ISP now through ethernet cable excluding the router.

Ok so you can get to the settings via the 192.168.1.1. When you do this are you connected to the router with an ethernet cable? To me it sounds like your ISP isn't giving your router an IP address.

Do you have your modem connected to the WAN port on the back of your router? It's the yellow port:

If you are able to get into the settings, it's likely just a setup problem and not a faulty router.

Right now I'm just using the modem but I still access the router settings with or without internet access. So no I'm not connected to the router with an ethernet cable at the moment and do not use the ethernet when looking at the router settings.

I don't have anything connected to the router right now after trying to troubleshoot but still no wireless connection so I switched back to using the ethernet cable for my laptop for now.

Well that's good to know the router is not faulty but what went wrong in setup then and how do I correct it?

This answer is Tahir from Yahoo Answers...and finally it worked, So happy now minus the headache but other than that it's all good.

hi... i runs a wifi network and mostly i face issues like this.....try to follow these steps...

1. first of all run cmd as administrator and ping 127.0.0.1 ....this ping should work if it does not work so you have a virus which disturbed your tcp/ip stack.
2. now ping your router mostly routers ip address is 192.168.1.1 .....it should work as well..
3.if the step 2 does not work then try to change your ethernet cable.
4. open the router in your explorer 192.168.1.1 and mostly login and password is admin admin.
5.delete the existing connection and set a new connection according to the infomation provided by your isp.

6. Best of luck

Okay so now I keep getting kicked off constantly within a matter of minutes every time I reestablish a wireless connection. I did follow the instructions and both numbers do ping all 5 times.

I have not touched any settings or anything. One moment I am online and the next it decides to just not work. I'm so frustrated I literally want to break every part in this stupid router. But instead, I would most likely just sell it.

Why does the router keep disconnecting wirelessly and how to make it stop and act right? What is it I'm doing wrong?

There are no firmware updates available so it's up-to-date.
I've already updated the network adapter as well.
