Hey Everyone,

I'm getting an error that I cannot create a new volume on my 4TB hard drive. I recently Reinstalled Windows 8 and was having some trouble with many issues, and it resulted in this.

That's the error I get. The disk is also set to dynamic instead of basic, can't revert that. My windows is also located at the very right, if it matters. The disk is also GPT.

Thanks in advance for any help, my 4TB hard drive is now a 100gb one. Can't do anything with it right now till this is fixed.

Cheers

1) May want to use this Tutorial to convert that back to Basic. No reason why it needs to be dynamic unless your running a Software raid

2) What exactly have you done? It looks almost as if there was 2 OS's on there? if not then some stuff got messed up. nothing thats not fixable but can you explain exactly what you have done so far?

I have tried to install Windows 7 again, but it all went to hell. I get some error at boot that it cannot startup, which always leads me to booting windows 8 instead. I'm looking at the forum you just suggested and seeing how that will go.

EDIT: Error I got while trying to convert it. I also didn't mean to do the confirm a solution to this thread. Dammit lol

lol its ok its undone

yea it may be because of how everything is. Do you have install disk for both 7 and 8? You might be better off just starting all over again. Install windows 7 first if you do that and make the partition how big you want it. Then after that is done install windows 8. Again make how big you want it. Then once both are installed you can then use the rest or a data drive or what ever if thats what you were shooting for.

Also what error did you get and what program did you use?

That's the error I'm getting with Partition Wizard.

I wouldn't mind at all reinstalling windows, but the thing is I can't change anything on the hard drive now. Anything I try I get an error. I can't use or create space, other than the 100gb I used to install Windows on.

I tried it, the only option i could get was to covert to a basic drive and it was the same error i got with that program earlier. I also tried getting rid of everything on that partition through formatting on W8 installation, then trying to convert it with no OS installed and still got the same error. Any other possible ideas?

Do you have another PC you can slave the hard drive to? Doesn't matter if its SATA or USB connection. If you can you should be able to plug it into another PC and want to delete ALL partitions. Then once it shows all black in Disk Management you can then convert it back to Basic. Its the Option 3 in that tutorial there. If not try option 2 using EASUS partition master.
