Ie added a switch to a stack, it had an older IOS version than the stack. I did not see that it was upgrading the IOS on the new switch and I interrupted the upgrade so now it wont boot.

everyone tells me to delete the files from flash. On the root of the flash dir, there was no IOS. there is an upgrade folder. in it, i see the IOS, the file is: c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-55.SE5 It too looks like a directory,

when I try to enter that directory, it says no such file or directory.

when i try this command: delete flash:update:c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-55.SE5
it says no such file or directory

when I try (like anything and everything google and cisco says) delete /force /recursive flash:update OR delete /force /recursive flash:update:c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-55.SE5
it first asks me if i want to delete /force, then if i want to delete /recursive, as if they are files themselves, which makes no sense. it still doesnt delete anything, says no such file or directory

on boot it does this:
...done Initializing Flash.
done.
Loading "flash:/c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-58.SE2/c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-58.SE2.bin"...flash:/c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-58.SE2/c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-58.SE2.bin: no such file or directory

Error loading "flash:/c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-58.SE2/c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-58.SE2.bin"

here is my flash directory:

switch: dir flash:
Directory of flash:/

2 drwx 512 <date> update

57200128 bytes available (471552 bytes used)

here is my flash:update directory:

switch: dir flash:update
Directory of flash:update/

3 drwx 512 <date> c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-55.SE5

57200128 bytes available (471552 bytes used)

here is my flash:update:c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-55.SE5 directory

switch: dir flash:update:c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-55.SE5
unable to stat flash:update:c3750e-universalk9-mz.122-55.SE5/: no such file or directory

other notes:
I am trying with both PuTTY and Tera Term. Neither of these recognize cd as a command, even though i have seen it in some postings. when I watch the following video, the /recursive and /force arguments seem to work, I dont know what I cant get them to. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRK4q8QTOFc

any help is greatly appreciated.

Try copying first a working IOS, set it up as your default image to boot from and then see if you can erase the apparently corrupted ones, last case scenario you'll end up with those images eating your flash storage but with the new IOS copied the switch should get back into normal operation.

so i tried that originally and i got a file i/o error, which led me to the events above. i recently learned that as soon as i start the transfer, i need to send the file. i did that and it looked like the file transfer was complete, it took over 8 hours to send the file. but i still receive a file i/o error.

i will look, but everything i come across is trying to delete files as i tried earlier. or re-doing the config, which i cant, because i cant get into the damn. thing. i will look into what you said and update this thread
