[SOLVED] Cannot disable CPU fan speed error

I am water cooling my Asus X99 Deluxe ii, all of the radiator fans are connected to chassis fan headers and are controlled based on fluid temperature. The only problem is that I cannot disable the cpu fan speed error.

I have set the qfan for the cpu fan to all of auto/dc/pwm, with the lower speed limit set to ignore, but when I save changes and reset it has disabled qfan on the cpu fan and shows the cpu fan speed error.

How can I get the setting to stick? All my other settings seem fine, just this one keeps reseting. Is there another way to disable the error, besides connecting one of the fans to the cpu fan header?

Why don't you connect a chassis fan to it?

I don't have a chassis fan, just the fans on the radiators. That's why I was hoping for a solution to whatever is stopping me from disabling the error message.

Apparently the BIOS does detect that no fan was connected, and therefore the error, no matter the settings.
