I have two nvidia gtx 970's the EVGA GTX 970 Superclocked ACX 2.0 and the GIGABYTE GTX 970 WindForce 3X OC. I am trying to get the two to connect in sli. GPU-Z recognizes both cards the proper drivers have been installed already and both cards are verified working. When i open the nvidia control panel it tell me "To use maximum 3D performance, connect the SLI-ready graphics cards with an SLI connector. I tried that and it did not work. I went and purchased a Asus ROG-SLI-HB-BRIDGE so i could try another bridge but i still have no luck.

Things i have tried:
-Switching card positioning
-Different sli bridge
-uninstalling drivers and reinstalling them
-Updating the motherboard bios

In case it makes a difference my motherboard is a Asus sabertooth z97 mark 1. My cpu is a i7-4790k. I have the Evga supernova 850w gold power supply.

Thanks in advance!

What are your PhysX settings in the box next to the SLI profile? Choose Auto select.

To disable SLI Nvidia requires several background processes to be closed. Maybe there is a background process and you are not getting the message. Make sure to close your antivirus, OC software (precision X, Afterburner) and any keyboard or mouse software.

Try going to Manage 3D settings and under global settings scroll down to power management mode and select prefer maximum performance.

I think I have had an issue like this before, but I cant remember exactly what was wrong. Welcome to the world of SLI.

Do you have a standard SLI connector between both GPUs? Have you tried each GPU by itself and do they both work to render games? If yes to both of these You may need to flash the bios on both GPUs to there newest iteration. Lastly have you tried completely reloading windows? If these don't fix the issue you may be stuck. There can be issues using different make model cards together. Usually it is a bios issue (both cards not running the same/compatible bioses) but sometimes it can be impossible to SLI even if bios are same. If this ends up being the case then there is nothing you can do.

I did not buy this card I got it from a friend since they upgraded. But I think I am just going to buy two new identical cards.
