Cash reward if you help me solve this! Been trying for sometime now.

I'm having the same problem indicated in the article here: http://www.storageadmin.com/Articles/Index.cfm?ArticleID=14614.

I am unable to locate what service is locking the volume! Is there any easy way? I am currently offering $30 to the person that can help me solve this problem! Thanks.

I have a screenshot of my running services at www.skeedo.com/services.gif.

I have tried disabling all the obvious ones, e.g. Protected Storage, no luck. Help!

www.sysinternals.com has this <A HREF="http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/handle.shtml" target="_new">file locking</A> utility, it may help...

<i>It's always the one thing you never suspected.</i>

I imagine you're trying to run it with the "Automatically fix file system errors" option, correct? You should be able to run it without this option, but it'll only report if there are any problems, and not fix them. To my knowledge, there is no way to run chkdsk in fix mode while in Windows, unless of course it's a completely different volume that has absolutely no files open. You have to run it, and it'll tell you that you can't run in fix mode, but if you would like for it to run in fix mode the next time you restart. That's the only way as far as I know, because chkdsk requires exclusive access to the whole partition to run in fix mode.
