Cannot find SATA-0

when the computer goes to sleep and then later shuts down, and then when I go to wake it up, it won't boot. The message is Cannot find SATA-0 (Which is the primary boot disc). A physical re-start solves the problem, as it will then boot normally. Is the disc going south? The Check Disk feature says that it is OK.

It is a Dell E520 running Windows 7. It has the latest BIOS upgrade.

It sounds like you have a problem with it going to sleep. Try disabling the sleep and hibernation feature. Alot of people seem to have problems with this. I myself do not use it.

Hi there,

First run a full system antivirus to make sure your computer is clean.

Also, check the diagnostic lights on the front of the case and see if any are on and in what pattern, that may give you an answer.

Finally, check your Event Viewer, in the Custom Logs \ Administrative Events folder to see if any errors were recorded. Info, Warnings, Errors, and Critical Events are recorded there to help pin down the problem. They are time stamped so make a note of the time you have trouble for comparison

The final answer was that the C Drive Disk was Kaput. Changed drives and reinstalled windows 7. It runs like a new machine now!! Thanks anyway
