Cannot force 100 Mbps Full Duplex for network.

Hi guys, I have a problem with my router, when I choose auto-negotiation as my value in Speed & Duplex it limits the internet to 10 Mbps, and because of that I want to force it on 100 Mbps Full Duplex. But after I do that, the network can't be recognized and it shuffles back and forth between unplugged and identifying. Any suggestions are appreciated.

My most hated words....killer chipset. These chipset are mostly marketing since if you only run the game on your pc it will always be priority traffic and if you run multiple things then you are stupid when your goal is to make your game run as well as possible.

If you search that chipset you will find massive amounts of posts complaining about bizarre problems. They even have utilities called killer cleaner because the issue is so bad. Unfortunately it seem that method does not work on the newest boards.

The challenge is always finding the correct driver. They do have stable drivers that work well it is just finding the ones that work with yours. Killer has a driver that has the killer features removed if you look at their...
That is almost always because of a bad cable.

The huge problem you have is if you try to set any option the auto function is disabled. This means the other side will never negotiate correctly and likely end up in half duplex. You would need to set both sides to the exact same settings and most consumer grade router/switches you can not even attempt to make changes.

If it continues to happen with the settings on auto and a new cable you need to carefully inspect inside the jacks for something like a misaligned or damaged wire. After that you have to assume you have a defect port which generally means buying new equipment.

Oops, just chose your answer for the solution even though I just wanted to reply 😀D Nevermind, so I have tried what is it... 5 different cables? And nothing works at all. It was like yesterday when I carefully unplugged and then replugged all the cables on the router and on the Mobo one by one that it worked for like a whole day lol. So should I consider getting a new router? Because I went to a repair service for electronics and the guys there updated all the firmware and managed to get the Wi-Fi working (btw wi-fi doesnt work too) and fulfill a link speed of 1 Gbit/s. So I am confused, because the router works there, but doesn't work in my home?! Please help 🙁

When you get hardware issues it gets extremely hard. Normally on a router only a single port would go bad if they all fail then you have lost the switch chip inside the router which of course is not cost effective to ever replace. That is not all that likely.

If the router works at the repair place then it unfortunately is starting to look like your PC. If you have another pc you could try to plug that into the router. I guess the good news would be is if the on board ethernet is bad on your motherboard you can get a pci based ethernet card fairly inexpensively. You could also try to see if there are newer/different motherboard drivers. Now if you had said you had just installed win 10 then you could join all the other people having driver issues but I suspect yours is most likely physical damage to the port on the computer.

I was thinking of trying this - I might just buy a new router and hope that it works. If it doesn't work at all... I can RMA the motherboard, can't I? I mean cmon, wtf, my computer is a month old, and It is a high-end gaming machine it should be amazing and shouldn't have damage at all - the mobo is a Gigabyte one with Killer E2200. And I have never smashed cables into it, never harmed it or hit it, I plug in the cables carefully... Are we entirely sure that this is the problem? :\ Is there no chance of it being the ISP or its cables or something?

I can't say how well it works since I stay far away from those ethernet controllers after fighting a machine and giving up.

You would not have to replace the motherboard. You can add a inexpensive PCIE card....preferably a intel based one.

But do you have any ideas why the Wi-Fi doesn't work here, but it works in the repair place? :O I mean, if its the MOBO why does the router not emit wireless signal? Does the mobo tell the router something or...?

As far as I can see, the settings are all ok and wireless is enabled both through button and router web settings. 🙁

EDIT: Also installed a PCI card from my old PC (which is from like 2007 and yes, a PCI card, not a PCI-E, luckily my MOBO had a PCI slot.), and still, I get 10 Mbps. I am confused as hell.

EDIT 2: Wait... WHAT THE FUCK?!! I managed to connect the ethernet cable to the PCI Card and force 100 Mbps Full Duplex, but the link speed is still 10 Mbps?!! Please helppppp 🙁
